A Shenandoah Valley Inn Wedding | Joshua Wilton House | Harrisonburg, Virginia
One of the things I love about the Shenandoah Valley is all of the beautifully restored bed & breakfasts, inns and manor homes that flourish amid the Blue Ridge Mountains. However, even though I spent my teen years in Harrisonburg, I had never actually been in the Joshua Wilton House until Isabelle's and Collin's wedding.
The Joshua Wilton House is a restored Victorian home in downtown Harrisonburg that now serves as an inn and restaurant.
Although the rooms are more intimately sized, they are lined with huge windows that almost run floor to ceiling. Due to the natural directional light that comes into the rooms, we were able to take some stunning getting-ready photos of BOTH Isabelle and Collin. Often, even if the bride's getting-ready room has nice natural light, the groom's getting ready space may be in a basement or windowless back room. But as you'll see, even if you are getting married at a vineyard or upscale farm, it's well worth considering renting a room in a B & B or boutique hotel for both parties. Fortunately, for those of you getting married in the Shenandoah Valley, there are plenty of options to choose from!
Isabelle and Collin used two side-by-side rooms to get ready, but chose not to do a first look. Because their guest list was limited by the size of the venue to about 50 people, we had plenty of time for photos both right after their courtyard ceremony and during "golden hour."
A friend officiated the ceremony, Sparrow's Floral Design did the flowers, Heritage Bakery & Cafe made the cake, withSimplicity made the favors, Brown & Co. Hair Design did Isabelle's hair and her dress was from Wedding Inspiration's Bridal Boutique in Asheville, NC. Alyssa Moyer Barahona was my second shooter.
