An In-Home Newborn Session | Charleston, West Virginia
I don't shoot a ton of newborns, but in-home sessions work for pretty much any stage of life, any configuration of people. Unlike studio newborn sessions (which I don't offer at all), for in-home newborns, the newborn is either always in mom or dad's arms or unposed in a safe space - such as his or her crib.
One of the things I love about in-home sessions is capturing not only the personality of your relationship, but your style personality through how you choose to decorate your space. I often ask people to put on some music during sessions to help clients relax. Vas and Mark are huge music and art lovers - in fact Mark is DJing a reception with me later this month - and he has an incredible record collection. So we made sure to get a few shots of Mark and Olympia listening to music together.
Since my style is more documentary, candid and photojournalistic, in-home newborn sessions are a perfect way to be relaxed and present with your little one in your own space. The feedback I got from this particular session was the photos are "exactly what I was hoping it to be. Not stiff...just us."
