Introducing Pet Mini-Sessions | West Virginia and Virginia Pet Photographer

Now introducing pet mini sessions for the Charleston, West Virginia and Charlottesville, Virginia areas!

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you might have heard that we have a new rescue dog, Honey. I found Honey after she'd been hit by a car. After being taken to the animal shelter for medical care and a five day stray hold, we picked her up and adopted her.

I'll do a full blog post soon with Honey photos and more about her story, but for now, to make a long story short, the car accident left her with a tail that needed to be amputated and what we were told was a torn ACL. The vet quoted us at $2200 for ACL surgery - a cost we weren't expecting - so we started a GoFundMe and I launched pet mini-sessions to try and cover some of the cost.

Pet Sessions

I tend to attract couples and families who are dog lovers anyway - mostly because Austin and I now have four dogs and "dog life" is a big part of my brand. And I've been wanting to get into pet photography for a while, but thought it'd be something i'd launch if I ever opened a studio.

These pet mini-sessions were so much fun, though, and something I've decided to start offering permanently. They're half the price of my regular lifestyle sessions and can either be just photos of your pet or include some with you and your pet as well like this family did. Because pet mini-sessions involve more intensive editing than other types of sessions (editing out leashes or humans if needed), they include fewer digitals than my regular lifestyle sessions, but I send every family a proofing gallery with about 30-40 images in it from which to chose. You have the option to buy more digitals from the gallery, buy the whole gallery or just stick with your 10 included images. Once you pick your favorites, I finish up the editing.

To date, most of the pet sessions I've done have been with dogs, but if you are obsessed with your cats or show animals in 4H or are a huge horse person, these could also work for that.

And if you want a full-length pet session that's always an option too. Possibilities include documenting a trail ride with you and your horse, a hiking session with your pups, a cake smash for a pet's birthday or an in-home session featuring your cats.
